Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design of underground transmission lines up to 500 kV. The role involves routing, duct bank configurations, manhole placement, ampacity calculations, and preparing complete drawing packages.

You will collaborate with vendors and clients and supervise a team of engineers, designers, and drafters in a hybrid work setting. Ideal candidates hold a BS in engineering (ABET-accredited) and a PE license, with 12+ years of leadership

Qualifications

• BS degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• PE license required.
• Experience leading a design team on complex underground transmission projects.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling and cable tensioning software.
• Knowledge of design codes (NESC, EPRI, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Experience with cost estimates and schedule coordination.
• XLPE cable design experience.
• Ability to prepare specs for installation and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Design complex underground transmission lines up to 500 kV.
• Lead cost analyses, siting, routing, and manhole placement.
• Develop duct bank layouts and trenchless designs; perform ampacity calcs.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients on transmission components.
• Direct project team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Ensure compliance with design codes and client requirements.
