Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in the US is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead design for 2.4kV to 345kV projects. You will oversee technical staff, provide expert guidance on standards, and drive best practices across transmission projects.

The role requires strong CAD skills, client liaison, and the ability to deliver designs that meet safety, codes, and performance requirements while managing budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related ABET-accredited program, with 7+ years in transmission engineering.
• FE exam passed or equivalent licensure; EPC project experience preferred.
• Master’s in Engineering is acceptable with 6+ years of transmission experience; EPC experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transmission design codes and CAD software; ability to lead complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission design from concept through design completion.
• Prepare equipment specs, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and vendor data.
• Conduct conductor selection studies, and grounding and transmission calculations.
• Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and regional standards across projects.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Manage project schedule, scope, budget, and changes; mentor staff.
