Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a senior Unified Communications Engineer to design, implement, and sustain enterprise voice, video, and collaboration services across on‑premises and cloud environments for federal operations.

The role focuses on high availability, performance, and security, coordinating with network, security, and service desk teams, and ensuring compliance with federal requirements. A SECRET clearance is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT/engineering.
• 8+ years in telecommunications engineering or UC in large or federal environments.
• Hands-on experience with UC/telephony platforms (Cisco, Teams Phone, Avaya).
• Experience monitoring UC performance metrics and using monitoring tools.
• Experience in secure federal environments and ability to obtain SECRET clearance.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical docs.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain enterprise UC/telephony across on‑prem and cloud.
• Monitor UC networks, analyze KPIs, identify bottlenecks and degradation.
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and escalate as needed.
• Document standards, runbooks, and configuration baselines for UC infra.
• Collaborate across network, security, and service desk to plan changes.
• Produce reports and recommendations for capacity and performance improvements.
• Provide training and guidance on UC capabilities to teams.
• Maintain required controls for federal security, privacy, and records.
