Job summary

HDR is seeking a Principal Project Manager to lead large, complex infrastructure programs within the Transportation Business Group. You will advise clients on technical, regulatory, financial, and community aspects while directing multiple disciplines to ensure successful delivery of high-value programs.

Preferred candidates bring a Master’s degree, 10+ years of program management experience, and familiarity with DB/CMAR styles, PMIS/CMIS, and risk management. Willingness to travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, Planning, Business Administration or closely related field.
• Professional licenses/certifications: PE/P.Eng, PMP, PgMP, AICP, or CCM.
• Minimum 10 years of program management experience, including at least 4 years as a Senior Program Manager.
• Experience delivering three or more programs, each with a capital value of $500M+.
• Strong leadership and cross-location team management.
• Excellent communication and ability to present to executives.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods (DB, PDB, CMAR).
• Familiar with PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and dashboard analytics.
• Willingness to travel regularly.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary infrastructure programs with high technical complexity.
• Advise clients on technical, regulatory, financial, and community aspects.
• Plan, direct, and monitor program execution across many disciplines.
• Identify issues and mitigate risks; provide strategic advice.
• Develop program management plans and tools to drive efficiency and accountability.
• Direct services by multiple large program teams or mega-projects.
• Promote team alignment through regular communications.
• Ensure contract compliance and resource planning.
• Monitor financial performance and profitability; address losses.
• Support growth of HDR’s program management services.
