Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer to join our Denver, CO ESSP team. You will perform transmission planning studies, develop models, and collaborate with engineers and clients to deliver reliable energy infrastructure.

The role requires 7–10 years of relevant experience, strong software skills (PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD), and leadership abilities. This position supports remote work options and emphasizes QA/QC and professional growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Engineer in Training Certification.
7–10 years of experience in steady state contingency and stability analysis for large power systems.
Experience with PSS/E, PSLF, DSA Tools, TARA, PowerWorld, ASPEN and PSCAD.

Responsibilities

Perform or lead transmission planning studies, including power flow and contingency analysis, short circuit analysis, dynamic stability analysis, critical clearing time studies, and reactive power studies.
Execute project tasks within scope, schedule, and budget.
Prepare reports detailing assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
Mentor junior engineers to support team development.
Maintain knowledge of Transmission Planning guides, standards, and industry practices.
Support business development activities including proposal development and client meetings.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency using automation and AI tools.
