Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer to join our Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection (ESSP) team in Denver. Remote candidates across the US may be considered.

You will lead planning studies, develop models, and deliver high-quality documentation while mentoring junior engineers. The role requires 7–10 years of power system experience, proficiency with major software packages, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• 7–10 years of experience in steady state contingency and stability analysis for large power systems.
• Hands-on experience with PSS/E, PSLF, PSLD, DSA Tools, TARA, PowerWorld, ASPEN and PSCAD.
• Ability to automate changes and re-balance planning cases with engineering judgement.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Perform or lead transmission planning studies including power flow, contingency, dynamic stability, and related analyses.
• Develop and maintain transmission planning models for interconnection studies and network expansion.
• Prepare technical reports, document study assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients and engineers across teams.
• Support business development activities, including proposals and client meetings.
