Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer to join the Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection (ESSP) team, based in our Denver, CO office. Candidates for our offices in Fort Worth, TX, Orlando, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Overland Park, KS, Pittsburgh, PA, Raleigh, NC, and fully remote will also be considered.

You will perform transmission planning studies and model development, collaborate with engineers and clients, and produce high-quality technical documentation, while mentoring

Qualifications

• Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Engineer in Training certification is required.
• 7–10 years of direct experience in contingency and stability analysis for large power systems.
• Hands-on experience with PSS/E, PSLF, DSA Tools, TARA, PowerWorld, ASPEN and PSCAD.
• Ability to automate changes and re-balance planning cases with engineering judgement.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission planning studies, including power flow, contingencies, and dynamic analyses.
• Prepare technical reports with assumptions, findings and recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support QA/QC.
• Collaborate with clients and project managers to deliver on scope, schedule, and budget.
• Identify efficiency improvements using automation and AI tools.
