Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer to join our Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection team in the Denver area, with consideration for Fort Worth, Orlando, Phoenix, Overland Park, and other US locations or remote work. You will lead planning studies and develop models, collaborating with engineers and clients to deliver reliable grid solutions.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, an EIT, 7–10 years of power system analysis experience, and proficiency

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Engineer in Training Certification.
7 to 10 years of direct experience in steady state contingency analysis and stability analysis.
Hands-on experience with multiple power system software packages listed above.
Able to automate changes and re-balance planning cases with engineering judgment.
Must reside and work within the United States.

Responsibilities

Perform or lead transmission planning studies, including power flow and contingency analysis, short circuit analysis, dynamic stability analysis, and reactive power studies.
Execute project tasks within scope, schedule, and budget; prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients to support project delivery.
Support business development activities including proposal development and client meetings.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency using automation and AI tools.
