Job summary

HDR is seeking a national Transmission EPC Principal within our Power Delivery Practice to lead pursuits and project activities across HDR's alternative delivery models.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a PE license and PMP, with 10+ years in transmission design and 5+ years leading EPC teams. Expect collaboration with diverse teams, rigorous risk management, and travel up to 20% to support multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License.
• Project Management Professional (PMP).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission design.
• Minimum 5 years building and leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Experience with EPC design and construction packages.
• Experience performing all aspects of transmission line design, procurement and construction for up to 500 kV.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects, then transition to Project Manager and execution team.
• Facilitate discussion on technical risk analysis and mitigation, preliminary routing and design and BOM takeoff support.
• Lead scope, schedule and budget development for AD projects and coordinate with land survey, geotechnical, distribution, substation, environmental, real estate and GIS staff.
• Estimate technical investments prior to the Go/No-Go discussion and share risk evaluations with leaders to decide pursuit.
• Interface with construction contractors and HDR sub consultants during pursuits and projects to discuss risk identification and mitigation.
• Assist in Go/No-Go discussions, risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews and negotiations.
• Develop FEED templates, standards, specifications and templates to support transmission line EPC pursuits and projects.
• Team development, mentorship and leadership of Project Managers, Engineering Managers and discipline leads.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Report to Alternative Delivery Director.
