Job summary

Harding, Shymanski & Co., P.S.C. in Evansville, IN is seeking an experienced Tax Practice Senior Coordinator to join our Evansville office.

The role combines technical tax operations with process improvement and mentoring responsibilities. You will own workflow areas, identify gaps, develop documentation, coordinate client intake, and support coordinators and interns while collaborating with the Tax Practice Supervisor to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in Tax Practice coordination or comparable role.
• Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience improving operational workflows preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned workflow areas with a high degree of independence.
• Identify process gaps and improvement opportunities; propose solutions.
• Develop and maintain documentation for owned workflows.
• Serve as primary contact for client intake and coordination.
• Handle complex client situations with greater autonomy.
• Monitor engagement timelines and prioritize across teams.
• Coordinate billing, follow-up, and client reminders with minimal direction.
• Mentor Tax Practice Coordinators on workflows and client communication.
• Assist onboarding of new coordinators and interns; translate knowledge into repeatable practices.
• Provide backup coverage for Tax Practice Supervisor as needed.
• Lead or co-lead department strategic initiatives.
• Track and report progress with initiative leads and leadership.
• Prepare tax notices and simplified 1040s.
