Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud systems. Remote work is offered for eligible US-based candidates with a Public Trust clearance focus.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud, namely S3, Step Functions, Batch Jobs, and CloudWatch.
• Proven track record of managing and maintaining large-scale production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with system administration tasks including user management and monitoring.
• Scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).
• Knowledge of IaC tools like CloudFormation.
• Experience with monitoring tools (DynaTrace, Science Logic, CloudWatch).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance.
• Understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and VPNs.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices in analyzing situations or data.
• Detect, isolate, document, and rapidly report system outages and recovery activities.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy tools.
• Work directly with the customer in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software issues and escalate as needed.
• Communicate status to users and senior management.
• Maintain computing infrastructure and perform installations.
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems or procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA security policies.
