Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal System Safety Engineer for an onsite role in Tucson, AZ. The position supports Raytheon’s System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) department, ensuring safety through MIL-STD-882E analyses, risk assessment and life-cycle safety oversight.

A DoD security clearance is typically required. You will develop safety strategies, coordinate with government customers, manage safety budgets, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with IPTs and product teams to

Qualifications

Requires STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses.
Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
Experience briefing safety status to safety approval authorities at technical reviews.
Experience managing or owning a safety program.

Responsibilities

Develop MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs including management, analysis, evaluation and verification tasks.
Interpret system requirements, customer specifications and military standards to advise program leadership on compliance strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to eliminate hazards or implement effective controls.
Create and manage safety strategies and integrate tasks into the IMS; ensure contract and funding compliance.
