Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal System Safety Engineer for onsite roles across MA/RI. You will develop MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs, interpret complex requirements, and coordinate with program leadership to ensure safety across all lifecycle phases.

You will mentor engineers, lead safety working groups, and coordinate with government and internal teams to drive risk mitigation and robust safety cultures within defense programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E system safety program tasks and analyses.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
• Experience briefing safety status to safety approval authority at technical reviews and safety boards.
• Experience managing or owning a safety program.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and analyses.
• Interpret requirements and standards to recommend compliance strategies to leadership.
• Create and manage safety strategies and integrate tasks into the IMS.
• Oversee safety budgets, EVMS coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
• Mentor early-career safety engineers and lead safety working groups.
