Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Principal System Safety Engineer to join our on-site team in New England, with locations in MA. This role focuses on MIL-STD-882E system safety program development across the full lifecycle.

You will lead safety analyses, mentor engineers, coordinate with government customers and cross-functional teams, and oversee budgets and EVM tasks to ensure compliance and mission readiness. A STEM degree and 8+ years of experience, DoD Secret clearance eligibility, and strong

Qualifications

STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Experience developing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks.
Proven ability to write technical reports and presentations.
Experience briefing safety status at reviews and safety boards.
Experience owning or managing a safety program.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
Interpret requirements and standards to guide compliance strategies.
Create and manage safety strategies and integrate with IMS.
Oversee safety budgets and Earned Value Management coordination.
Mentor early-career safety engineers.
Coordinate System Safety Working Groups with stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and ensure hazard elimination.
Conduct safety analyses of designs and systems to ensure safety compliance.
Manage safety across all lifecycle phases.
