Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. You will lead system protection studies, configure relay settings, and review P&C designs for high‑voltage transmission and substations.

The role requires broad exposure to relays, protection philosophies, and protection analysis tools. Hybrid work with three days in the office and relocation assistance may be available based on location; strong communication with utility clients and equipment

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (or equivalent).
10+ years of experience in system protection engineering for transmission and/or substation projects.
Significant hands‑on responsibility for relay settings and protection studies.
Experience with CAPE and/or ASPEN (or equivalent protection analysis tools).
Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, and NERC/PRC standards related to protection and control.

Responsibilities

Lead system protection engineering for relay settings, protection philosophies, and power system studies.
Support and review substation protection & control (P&C) design documents and schematics.
Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor‑based protective relays using vendor software.
Develop and review protection design documents (one‑lines, three‑lines, wiring diagrams).
Support commissioning and field energization, including test plans and RFIs.
