Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Senior System Protection Engineer to lead protection engineering for Grid Services. You will handle relay settings, protection philosophies, and power system studies, with a secondary role in supporting substation P&C design for high‑voltage projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (or equivalent).
• 7+ years of experience in system protection engineering for transmission and/or substation projects.
• Significant hands‑on responsibility for relay settings and protection studies.
• Protection and control philosophies for line, transformer, bus, and capacitor protection.
• Experience with CAPE and/or ASPEN (or equivalent protection analysis tools).
• Experience with relay software tools like SEL AcSELerator and EnerVista.

Responsibilities

• Perform system protection studies including short‑circuit analysis and time‑current curves.
• Configure, set, and troubleshoot microprocessor‑based protective relays.
• Manage relay records and data in Powerbase or similar databases.
• Review P&C design documents: one‑lines, three‑lines, schematics, wiring/logic diagrams.
• Support commissioning, field energization, and misoperation investigations.
