Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Lead System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. The role centers on protection philosophies, relay settings, and power system studies for HV transmission projects, with involvement in P&C design for substations.

Hybrid work arrangement with three days in office; relocation package may be offered. Expertise with CAPE/ASPEN and OEM relay software is required, along with strong client communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET‑accredited).
• 10+ years in system protection for transmission/substation projects.
• Experience with relay settings and protection studies.
• Proficiency with CAPE/ASPEN or equivalent protection tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of protection philosophies and settings for transmission lines, transformers, buses, and capacitor banks.
• Perform system protection studies: short‑circuit analysis, relay coordination, time‑current curve development.
• Configure, set, and troubleshoot microprocessor relays using vendor software.
• Support P&C design and documentation, including one‑lines and wiring diagrams.
• Assist with field commissioning, relay testing, and issue resolution.
