Job summary

Sargent Aerospace & Defense in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer III (Senior) onsite. You will lead supplier quality initiatives across aerospace, defense, and marine suppliers, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes audits, root cause analysis, APQP/PPAP, and risk mitigation, with up to 50% travel. A strong background in AS9100/ISO 9001 and bilingual English/Spanish is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 4 years supplier quality/engineering experience; or an Associate degree with 6 years experience.
• Experience leading supplier audits, corrective action programs, and supplier development initiatives.
• Knowledge of AS9102, APQP, PPAP methodologies and related quality systems.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specs, contracts, and GD&T.
• Experience with machining, assembly, fabrication, castings, forgings, materials processing and special processes.
• Experience leading root cause investigations and cross-functional teamwork.
• Ability to manage multiple suppliers and projects with limited supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to travel up to 50% and obtain AS9100 Lead Auditor certification within 1 year.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish; U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier qualification, audits, and performance management for strategic suppliers.
• Serve as primary SQE authority for assigned Aerospace & Defense and Marine suppliers.
• Lead investigations of supplier issues and verify corrective actions.
• Facilitate advanced root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, FTA, DMAIC).
• Develop supplier improvement plans addressing quality, delivery, capability, and risk.
• Conduct supplier risk assessments and mitigation to strengthen supply chain resilience.
• Perform supplier audits per AS9100/ISO9001 and related requirements.
• Lead APQP/PPAP activities and approve PFMEAs, Control Plans, FC studies, FAIRs, PPAPs.
