Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility industry to lead design reviews, mentor junior staff, and contribute to bid and construction packages for substation projects.

The role requires strong knowledge of steel and concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundation design, with site visits and occasional travel to client facilities. Portland, OR area is preferred; frequent collaboration with clients and a senior design team is expected.

Qualifications

BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years.
PE license preferred in CA, WA or OR or ability to obtain licensure in 3–12 months.
SE licensure is preferred.
Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD.
Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff.

Responsibilities

Perform design reviews of civil/structural components and support bid/construction packages for substation projects.
Lead projects, review designs, and mentor junior staff members.
Communicate effectively with clients and team members; travel to client sites as needed.
