Job summary
Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility sector to lead design reviews, guide junior staff, and ensure compliance with codes. The role emphasizes steel and concrete structures, foundations, and seismic considerations, with site visits and occasional travel expected.
The candidate should have a strong background in design and reviews for substations, and be capable of coordinating with clients and project teams.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years.
- PE License preferred in CA, WA, OR or the ability to obtain licensure within 3–12 months.
- SE licensure is preferred.
- Experience with Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software is required.
- Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile software is required.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation is required.
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
- Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects.
- Develop junior staff through mentoring and oversight.
- Ensure design compliance with industry codes and seismic loading requirements.
- Perform site visits to client substations and participate in client meetings.
