Job summary

Blue Origin in Merritt Island, FL is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace loads engineer to support the development and operations of New Glenn. You will generate, communicate, and validate structural loads using physics-based analysis and FEM, with a focus on coupling with cross-discipline inputs.

The role requires hands-on experience with NASTRAN and MATLAB, FE model development and reduction, and the ability to present data clearly to customers and sponsors.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• NASTRAN and MATLAB proficiency.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Launch vehicle CLA development and execution with cross-discipline inputs.
• Documentation and communication of CLA results for customers.
• Finite Element Model development/refinement and validation against tests.
• FE Model reduction using Component Modal Synthesis (Craig-Bampton).
• General loads development for launch vehicles and related ground systems.
• Development of mathematical models and simulations for loads analysis.
• Management of large datasets and post-processing for engineering applications.
• Other loads tasks as required.
