Job summary

Blue Origin on Merritt Island, FL, seeks an experienced structural analyst to lead analysis of pressurized and unpressurized components for the New Glenn vehicle. You’ll perform hand calculations, FE analyses, and support test programs to certify hardware for spaceflight.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop automation tools, and collaborate with teams across disciplines to drive safe, reliable launch vehicle design and certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 3+ years working with aircraft, spacecraft and launch vehicle structures.
• Proficiency with Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, Abaqus for reading and manipulating input files.
• High proficiency with FEA software such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus CAE or HyperMesh.
• Strong understanding of FEM modeling techniques and verification methods.
• Experience with development and qualification testing and aerospace structures knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed hand calculations and FE analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
• Document stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings and documents.
• Plan and execute test campaigns; create reports for hardware qualification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for configuration development and trade studies.
• Mentor designers and junior analysts in stress, stability and fracture analysis.
