Job summary

Fuze Health seeks a Senior Database Administrator for the Fuze Care Services team to lead SQL Server modernization across EC2 and AWS RDS. You will enhance SSIS/SSRS, optimize costs, and mentor Hospice DBA staff while ensuring HIPAA/HITRUST compliance and disaster recovery readiness.

Based in the United States, you will collaborate with DevOps and application teams to define cloud-native data strategies, implement monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch, and help guide the long-term database

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end-of-support migrations, including upgrade testing.
• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling (DMS, Glue) and/or modernization plans.
• Experience with database migration projects (on-premises or EC2 to RDS).
• Backup/restore strategies, point-in-time recovery, cross-region replication.
• Monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL Server DMVs).
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 and migration to AWS RDS.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; re-platform to AWS-native ETL and reporting or upgrade on EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization and right-size resources.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS DB operations and best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines using Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes with AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Ensure HITRUST compliance and secure DB access and encryption.
• Support application teams with database-related development needs.
• Explore future modernization opportunities (PostgreSQL, Aurora).
