The Hanover Insurance Group in Wisconsin is seeking a dedicated Underwriter to join our Specialty Insurance team. You will identify, solicit, and underwrite renewal Specialty accounts with high technical complexity while aligning with appetite and risk management goals.

This full-time exempt role emphasizes portfolio management, pricing analysis, CAT guidelines, and collaboration with agents to drive profitable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years Underwriting experience.
• 3+ years’ experience driving agency relationships resulting in profitable renewal business.
• Proficient in ability to identify, analyze and solve problems and manage multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Thorough knowledge of business strategy and coverage differentials.
• Apply advanced underwriting concepts including risk selection, exposure and hazard identification.
• Pricing components and rating methodology aligned to exposure and financial analysis.
• Adhere to CAT guidelines and aggregation strategies in decision making.
• Explain coverages and exposures to agents to support value-added propositions.
• Manage assigned portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability and mix.
• Build long-term, profitable relationships with agencies and internal/external resources.
• Drive portfolio business plans and monitor key metrics for trends and opportunities.
• Support territory growth through effective relationship management and training of agents.
