Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Specialist for Specialty – Merit Specialty (Wholesale). The role focuses on identifying, underwriting, and selling new and renewal Specialty accounts, driving profitable growth within defined appetite and LOB mix goals.

You will apply technical, sales, and analytical skills to deliver insurance solutions, working with wholesale partners and internal teams. Travel and a flexible hybrid/remote setup in the US are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–7+ years specialty or standard commercial lines experience.
• 3–4+ years driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites and manages specialty accounts with moderate to high complexity.
• Uses underwriting tools and rating methodologies to ensure guidelines are followed.
• Identifies opportunities and builds relationships with agents to grow profitable business.
• Provides clear documentation and communicates decisions effectively.
