Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group, a longtime specialty insurer, seeks a Senior Underwriting Specialist with high hazard product liability experience. This full-time role involves underwriting, risk assessment, and sales leadership for a complex portfolio.

Hybrid or remote work is possible with travel to key locations, and the preferred bases include IL and other states. You will manage a high-technical book, mentor peers, and collaborate across units to align with appetite and growth goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5-7+ years Underwriting experience.
• 5-7+ years’ experience driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business.
• Proficient in ability to identify, analyze and solve problems and manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
• Demonstrates ability to adapt quickly to change, exercise influence, and act as a change advocate.
• Viewed as an informal leader amongst the team/branch/region.

Responsibilities

• Identify, solicit, underwriting, and selling new and renewal accounts driving profitable growth.
• Apply advanced technical, sales and analytical skills to provide insurance solutions.
• Demonstrates thorough understanding of Hanover’s strategies and appetites.
• Completes file documentation and clearly explain account decisions.
• Builds and maintains rigorous sales practices and presents to agents and customers.
