Affirm is building its own bank and is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own core bank systems end-to-end in a small, AI-native team. You will ship the bank's deposit product, drive loan originations, and bring card issuing online within a governed, auditable environment.

The role emphasizes ownership, fast delivery, and collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit to ensure examiner-ready designs and runbooks. A remote-first setup supports nationwide hiring.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership end-to-end through launch and operations.
• Comfortable in ambiguity and able to move fast while applying engineering judgment.
• Bias toward simplicity in a lean engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: design, build, integrate, operate, and own incident response for core surfaces.
• Be a force multiplier on a small team: raise the bar on docs, design standards, and code review.
• Ship AI-first: leverage AI tools and workflows to multiply code quality and velocity.
• Own vendor relationships end-to-end: integrations, operations, escalation, and audit.
• Build for examiners: document decisions and runbooks for audit readiness.
• Own the operational posture: monitoring, runbooks, and reliability.
• Influence non-engineering stakeholders with clear technical strategy.
• Grow talent as the team grows: mentor peers and lead by example.
