Affirm is building its own bank, and this Senior Software Engineer role sits in the engineering team that runs it. You’ll own bank systems end-to-end—from cloud infrastructure to data platform—on a small, AI-native team with direct exposure to leadership to launch deposits, loan originations, and card issuing.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership end-to-end through launch and operations.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and moving fast while balancing engineering judgment.
• Bias toward simplicity in a small, lean engineering culture.
• Hungry to leverage AI to drive outcomes using AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: design, build, integrate, operate, and own incident response for core surfaces.
• Set and improve code review and design standards, lift examiner-readable documentation.
• Ship AI-first, using AI tools and agentic workflows to enhance delivery and operations.
• Own vendor relationships end-to-end, including integration and audit.
• Document decisions and runbooks to withstand examiner and audit review.
• Manage monitoring, alerting, and runbooks to keep systems reliable and audit-ready.
• Communicate strategy and constraints clearly to executives, compliance, risk, and engineers.
