Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment in San Mateo, CA seeks a Senior Responsible AI & Governance Technical Specialist to lead the ethical and safe development of AI products. You will design governance frameworks, assess risks, and collaborate across engineering, product, security, and legal teams.

The role requires strong technical fluency in modern AI systems, experience with generative/agentic AI, and the ability to translate risk into actionable controls.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in AI governance or related field.
• 5+ years of experience contributing to or leading cross-functional programs across product, engineering, legal, security, and operations teams.
• Strong technical fluency in modern AI systems including LLMs, agentic architectures, tool use/function calling, APIs and cloud services.
• Hands-on experience evaluating agentic AI systems; familiarity with MCP or similar protocols and agent/tool integration frameworks preferred.
• Experience with AI red teaming or adversarial testing to identify risks in LLM/agentic systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to long-term strategies for building safe, ethical, and innovative AI products and tools.
• Serve as a technical Responsible AI advisor for generative and agentic AI systems, aiding teams to assess architectures, tool integrations, data flows, and guardrails.
• Engage stakeholders across the organization to gather feedback on AI Governance and Responsible AI considerations.
• Use governance tools to identify risks and support remediation with practical solutions.
• Experiment hands-on with emerging AI capabilities and translate findings into governance guidance.
• Sit on domain boards as a technical specialist, partnering with Product and Engineering.
• Conduct ethical and safety risk assessments and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and security teams to identify unintended AI risks.
• Coordinate with Information Security to align governance reviews with security controls.
• Contribute to company-wide best practices and AI literacy materials.
