Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Production Support Engineer to provide high-level operations support for complex application cloud systems. The role focuses on rapid problem resolution, incident management, and collaboration with VA customers in a remote setting.

The candidate will automate, document, and improve IT processes while maintaining security compliance and asset inventories. Strong AWS/Azure experience, Linux/Windows proficiency, and on-call readiness are essential for success.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field, production environments.
3+ years of experience with SQL queries and monitoring.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

Perform high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
Detect, isolate, document, rapidly report, and resolve system outages or problems encountered during operations of the scientific workstations, including collection of diagnostic data, restoring system operation, development of workarounds, and other recovery activities.
Accurately document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
Work directly with the customer in most aspects of day-to-day activities.
Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software problems, escalating when required.
Communicate status of key problem statuses to users and senior management.
Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
