Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer to provide high-level operational support for cloud-based systems in a remote US-based role. You will resolve outages, document issues, and collaborate with customers and VA stakeholders to maintain system reliability.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in production environments, strong Linux/Windows skills, and hands-on experience with AWS/Azure, scripting, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering or production environments.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud (S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch).
• Proven track record managing large-scale production systems.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems knowledge.
• Automation scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.
• Knowledge of IaC tools such as CloudFormation.
• Monitoring with CloudWatch and other tools (DynaTrace, Science Logic).
• Security/compliance experience and best practices for production systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Git/GitHub Actions, CodeBuild/CodeDeploy.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for complex cloud systems.
• Document problems and resolutions in logging/discrepancy tools.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams for issue resolution.
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Implement continuous improvement in IT systems and procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA security compliance.
• Support on-call production system activities as required.
