Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Processor to resolve payroll tax issues across notices, corrections, amendments, and pay & file. You will handle high-volume case work with independence, mentor colleagues, and grow technical depth while ensuring accurate tax filings and compliant responses.

The role supports virtual expert services with flexible hours and a minimum of 20 hours per week, eligible for overtime pay, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of hands-on payroll tax experience focusing on notices, amended returns, and payroll error correction across multiple states.
• Working knowledge of IRS and state agency notice types; read notices and choose resolution paths.
• Experience resolving State and Federal payroll tax notices independently, including balance-due and deposit discrepancies.
• Knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations; understand employee vs employer tax responsibilities across jurisdictions.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Execute full-cycle payroll tax case work for assigned accounts; ensure accurate tax filings and payments.
• Research and resolve complex notices, owning cases from intake to closure.
• Prepare agency responses with documentation within deadlines.
• Prepare amended payroll tax returns (941-X, state equivalents) independently.
• Support correction workflows by identifying root causes and documenting audit trails.
• Maintain organized case documentation and prioritize by SLA dates.
