Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CIC) maintained annually
• 3+ years of Acute Care Inpatient coding experience
• 3+ years of DRG coding experience with complex procedures
• 3+ years of ICD-10-PCS coding experience

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services and assess impact on DRG.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review as needed.
• Adhere to coding guidelines and professional ethics.
• Maintain required performance in coding quality and productivity.
• Provide documentation feedback and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay up to date with coding knowledge and participate in meetings.
