UnitedHealth Group seeks a Senior Inpatient Medical Coder for a remote role delivering hospital-based ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and DRG determination. You will ensure adherence to official guidelines, maintain coding quality and productivity, and provide feedback to providers across the care continuum.

The position supports 40-hour weeks with training from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, conducted virtually from home.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher.
• Professional coder certification (AHIMA and/or AAPC) required and renewed yearly.
• 3+ years acute care inpatient coding experience in hospital settings.
• 2+ years in Level 2+ trauma center or teaching hospital with complex procedures.
• 2+ years ICD-10 CM/PCS and DRG coding experience.

Responsabilités

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services and DRG impact.
• Abstract data elements during chart review when coding as needed.
• Maintain coding ethics per AHIMA and/or AAPC standards.
• Meet productivity and quality standards set by Optum360.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when needed.
• Keep coding knowledge up-to-date via QM/Coding leadership materials.
• Participate in department meetings and educational events.
• Track charts coded, held, or missing.
