Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Sr. Relay Technician to lead protection and control projects in substations and industrial facilities across North America.

You will perform advanced testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and manage field teams to ensure safe, reliable operation and customer satisfaction. The role emphasizes analyzing protection schemes, coordinating complex projects, mentoring technicians, and interfacing with utilities and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience installing, maintaining, testing and repairing protective relays in transmission, generation, or distribution level substations.
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Willing to travel out of town and work overtime.
  • Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership: Lead job site safety briefings, enforce safety policies, and use HPE tools to improve reliability and reduce risk.
  • Technical Execution: Analyze protection schemes, install, commission, test substation control circuits, and perform end-to-end testing with relay test equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform complex troubleshooting of protection, control, and communication systems; analyze events and disturbances; lead root-cause investigations.
  • Project Leadership: Develop execution plans, coordinate resources and field activities for large-scale projects.
  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive test results, relay settings validation, and documentation.
