Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Sr. Relay Technician to lead protection and control testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for substation and industrial systems. You will guide field teams, manage complex projects, and interact directly with customers to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Must pass a satisfactory background check.
• Willingness to overtime and travel as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Hands-on experience with protective relays in substations.
• Ability to troubleshoot distribution and transmission controls circuits.
• Knowledge of relay test software and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership on job sites and enforce safety policies.
• Analyze protection schemes for power circuits and system components.
• Perform installation, testing, commissioning, and functional tests on relay panels.
• Execute advanced end-to-end testing using relay test equipment and software.
• Read and validate protection and control schematics and configurations.
• Lead root-cause analysis for relay trips, failures, and disturbances.
• Develop project execution plans, procedures, and energization sequences.
• Coordinate resources and field activities to ensure on-time project delivery.
• Prepare comprehensive reports with test results and relay settings verifications.
• Mentor Relay Technician I/II and junior engineers; interface with customers and stakeholders.
