Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors is seeking a senior Estimator/Detailer specializing in reinforcing steel for remote work in the United States. The role supports estimating, project management, and operations, and drives the company’s estimating standards and preconstruction processes.

The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on reinforcing-steel experience, strong reading of drawings/specifications, and can develop labor/material costs while coordinating with teams and clients on large projects.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on reinforcing-steel experience.
• Ability to independently review structural drawings and specifications.
• Experience with large concrete projects and substantial reinforcing-steel tonnage.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from structural drawings and specifications.
• Develop accurate estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, freight and other project costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project conditions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion, splice requirements, couplers, dowels, embeds and other reinforcing requirements.
• Review plans and specifications for scope gaps and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates.
• Assist management in establishing final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate material, fabrication, freight, and subcontractor pricing.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
• Review structural drawings for detailing requirements.
• Prepare and review placing drawings and bar lists.
• Coordinate RFIs related to reinforcing steel.
• Coordinate revisions and changes throughout the project.
• Work with project management and field personnel to resolve detailing issues.
