Job summary

Qualus seeks a Principal Relay Settings Engineer to lead protective relay design and coordination for major utility substations and generation interconnections. You will design, specify, calculate settings, and coordinate relay control schemes, leveraging 12+ years of protection and control experience.

This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, PE licensure, and familiarity with CAPE/ASPEN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with power systems focus is required.
• 12+ years of protection and control engineering and relay settings experience.
• PE registration is required; state licensure is a plus.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; ability to identify necessary software.

Responsibilities

• Design, specification, setting calculation, and coordination of protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Modeling, short circuit and overstressed breaker studies; develop protective relaying recommendations for interconnections.
• Ensure all relay settings activities align with policies and client design standards.
• Present technical solutions to customers and respond to technical inquiries clearly.
• Collaborate with Qualus groups to implement engineering solutions.
• Support multiple projects in parallel.
