Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Relay Settings Engineer in the Design Engineering department to grow a career in protective relaying and settings. The role involves design, calculation, and coordination of protective relaying schemes, along with short-circuit studies and client-facing technical support.

The candidate should have a BSEE with a power systems focus (MS acceptable) and experience in protection/relay settings, plus familiarity with ASPEN or CAPE and CYME where possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus (MS may substitute).
• Experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings.
• Familiarity with ASPEN or CAPE.
• Professional registration or plan to obtain it is a plus.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; able to identify necessary software.

Responsibilities

• Design, specification, setting calculation, and coordination of protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Model short circuit and overstressed breaker studies; provide protective relaying recommendations for interconnections.
• Ensure relay settings activities align with policies and client design standards.
• Present technical solutions to customers and respond to technical questions in real time.
• Collaborate with Qualus teams to develop and implement engineering solutions.
