Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Relay Settings Engineer to design, specify and calculate protective relay settings and coordinate relay control schemes for major utility substations. The role requires 7+ years of experience in protection and control engineering with power systems expertise and familiarity with ASPEN or CAPE.

The position may be based in multiple U.S. locations, including Las Vegas, NV. The company emphasizes client service, collaboration and a strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus (MS accepted).
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings.
• Experience with ASPEN and/or CAPE.
• Professional Engineering registration or plan to become registered.
• Strong analytical and computer skills and ability to select required software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, specification, setting calculation, and coordination of protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Modeling, short circuit and overstressed breaker studies and relay recommendations for interconnections.
• Ensure all relay settings activities comply with policies and client standards.
• Present technical solutions to customers and respond to questions in real time.
• Collaborate with teams to develop and implement engineering solutions.
