Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) seeks a Senior Relay Technician to lead protection and control testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for substation and industrial systems. You will analyze protection schemes, manage complex projects, and guide field teams to ensure safe operation and quality deliverables.

You will work with customers to resolve issues, mentor technicians, and maintain rigorous safety and documentation standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Criminal background check required.
• Willing to overtime and travel.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission, generation, or distribution level substations.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety on job sites and enforce policies.
• Analyze protection schemes for power circuits and other power system components.
• Perform installation, commissioning, testing of substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and breaker replacements.
• Execute advanced end-to-end and functional testing using test equipment and software.
• Read, interpret, and validate protection schematics, logic diagrams, and configurations.
• Lead project execution plans, outage sequences, and energization plans.
• Develop commissioning procedures and deliverables documentation.
• Train and mentor Relay Technician I, II, and junior engineers.
• Interface with customers and project stakeholders to communicate status and resolve issues.
