Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Senior Relay Technician to lead protection and control system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for substation and industrial facilities across North America.

The role emphasizes expert analysis of protection schemes, managing complex projects, field team leadership, and direct customer interaction to ensure safe, reliable operation and on-time delivery of projects.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing and repairing protective relays in transmission, generation, or distribution substations.
• Ability to troubleshoot distribution and transmission controls circuits.
• Experience reading and validating protection and control schematics and diagrams.
• Proven track record leading field teams on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead job site safety briefings and enforce safety policies across field activities.
• Analyze protection schemes and perform installation, commissioning, testing, and calibration of relay panels and protection circuits.
• Execute advanced end-to-end and functional testing with relay test equipment and software.
• Develop project execution plans, commissioning procedures, and energization plans.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports, relay settings verification, and commissioning documentation.
• Mentor Relay Technician I/II and junior engineers and interface with customers and stakeholders.
