Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the Process Safety competency across the US Refineries and support policy development beyond the US. You will serve as the US Region's SME and thought leader in Process Safety, aligning Cenovus risk methodology with Canadian counterparts.

The role requires 16+ years in Process Safety, a BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, and experience in HAZOP/LOPA/HAZID, RMP compliance, and PHAST analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety as a competency across the US Refineries—owning methodology development, regulatory and code interpretation, and industry policy representation
• Build and develop competent, capable Process Safety Engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID, etc.)
• Design, deliver, and maintain a comprehensive risk-training suite for site personnel, including QA/QC of site deliverables and the ongoing development of new team members
• Champion and safeguard key risk standards across the organization (PHA standard, RMP compliance, etc.)
• Directly conduct/coordinate centrally managed third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis, etc.)
• Drive and support assurance audits within the PSM space
