Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer who will lead Process Safety across the US Refineries and support policy development beyond the US. You will serve as the region's SME and drive Cenovus risk methodologies.

The role requires a 16+ year track record in process safety, leadership of HAZOP/LOPA, and familiarity with API/NFPA codes; a Bachelor's in chemical or mechanical engineering is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 16+ years in Process Safety, with 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals preferred.
• Experience leading multiple HAZOPs and MOCs; familiarity with safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety as a competency across US Refineries, including methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop and train Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology.
• Design and maintain risk training and QA/QC of site deliverables.
• Drive audits and ensure compliance with PSM standards and RMP requirements.
• Coordinate third-party studies and support safety policy implementation.
