Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead Process Safety competency across the US Refineries and support policy development beyond the US. This role serves as the US Region SME and aligns with Cenovus PSM expertise with Canadian counterparts.

The position requires 16+ years in Process Safety, strong experience in HAZOP/LOPA/HAZID, and familiarity with API/NFPA/CCPS codes; a Bachelor’s in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is required.
• 16+ years in Process Safety or related discipline required; 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety across US Refineries, including methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop competent Process Safety Engineers trained in Cenovus risk methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design and maintain a risk-training suite for site personnel and QA/QC of deliverables.
• Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP).
• Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis) and drive PSM audits.
