Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead Process Safety for the US Refineries and to support policy development beyond the US. This role serves as the US Region's SME and thought leader in Process Safety, with a dual leadership role for Cenovus PSM expertise alongside Canadian counterparts.

The candidate will own methodology development, drive risk training, and coordinate risk studies and audits while ensuring compliance with API, NFPA, CCPS, and RMP

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required.
16+ years in Process Safety or related field required.
10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead Process Safety across US Refineries, including methodology development, regulatory interpretation, and policy representation.
Develop Process Safety engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
Design and maintain a risk-training program for site personnel and QA/QC site deliverables.
Safeguard key risk standards (PHA, RMP) across the organization.
Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
Drive assurance audits within the PSM space.
