Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to champion Process Safety in the US Refineries and support policy development beyond the US. This role will lead Cenovus PSM expertise with Canadian counterparts and mentor engineers across the region.

You will build risk training, oversee QA/QC, and drive key safety standards while coordinating third-party analyses and audits to ensure regulatory and company standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Experience in process safety information auditing or RAGAGEP verification.
• Experience with Fire Hazard Analysis techniques and PSM in projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety as a competency across the US Refineries—owning methodology development, regulatory and code interpretation, and industry policy representation.
• Build and develop competent Process Safety Engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID, etc.)
• Design, deliver, and maintain a comprehensive risk-training suite for site personnel, including QA/QC of site deliverables and the ongoing development of new team members
• Champion and safeguard key risk standards across the organization (PHA standard, RMP compliance, etc.)
• Directly conduct/coordinate centrally managed third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis, etc.)
• Drive and support assurance audits within the PSM space
