Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the US Refineries' Process Safety competency and support policy development beyond the US. You will act as the region's SME and collaborate with Canadian counterparts on PSM expertise.

The role involves developing methodologies, training engineers in Cenovus risk methods, and coordinating third-party studies while driving risk standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• 16+ years in Process Safety roles.
• 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals is preferred.
• Experience leading multiple complex unit HAZOPs and MOCs.
• Experience with LOPA analyses and translating to SIL requirements.
• Familiarity with API, NFPA, CCPS codes and US regulations.
• Experience with RMP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety as a competency across US Refineries and policy representation.
• Develop and train Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design and maintain risk-training suite and QA/QC site deliverables.
• Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP).
• Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive assurance audits within the PSM space.
