Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead Process Safety for the US Refineries and support policy development beyond the US. This role will act as the US region's SME and key thinker in process safety, coordinating with Canadian counterparts.

You will build a team of qualified Process Safety Engineers, develop risk-training across sites, and drive PHA/RMP compliance and major SCADA/QA initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field.
• 16+ years in a Process Safety role; 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals is a plus.
• Experience leading multiple complex unit HAZOPs and MOCs and translating into SIL requirements.
• Experience in process safety information auditing or RAGAGEP verification.
• Experience in consequence modelling; PHAST experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with API, NFPA, CCPS codes & US regulations; familiarity with RMP compliance.
• Experience with Fire Hazard Analysis, QRA, and barrier health/HAZID concepts; PSM in projects a plus.

Responsabilités

• Lead Process Safety across US Refineries, owning methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design and maintain a risk-training program for site personnel and QA/QC of deliverables.
• Champion risk standards such as PHA, RMP compliance across the organization.
• Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive assurance audits within the PSM space.
