Job summary

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the implementation of Process Safety across US refineries and collaborate with Canadian counterparts. This role will be the US Region's SME and thought leader in Process Safety.

You will develop methodology, train engineers in Cenovus risk practices, run risk assessments, and drive audits and compliance with PSM standards while supporting global policy integration.

Qualifications

16+ years in a Process Safety role or closely related discipline.
10+ years in Oil and Gas/Petrochemicals is an asset.
Experience leading multiple complex unit HAZOPs and MOCs.
Experience with RMP compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead Process Safety across US Refineries—methodology development, regulatory interpretation, policy representation.
Develop and train Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
Design and maintain a risk-training suite for site personnel and QA/QC deliverables.
Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP) across the organization.
Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
Drive audits within the PSM space.
